This panel will provide important updates that address ease of configuration, interoperability and security of DNP3 (IEEE 1815™) as well as mapping and migration between DNP3 and IEC 61850.  The panel includes valuable utility insights and guidance from AltaLink, an experienced utility DNP user with staff that also serve on the DNP Technical Committee.   He will present real world utility use cases for the DNP XML Device Profile demonstrating how this will decrease system integration effort and improve device interoperability. The next speaker is the Chair of the DNP Technical Committee who will describe the DNP User Group’s latest release of the Outstation Conformance Tests that include Subset Level 3 for the first time.  In addition he will provide an overview of the new IEEE standard for mapping between DNP3 and IEC 61850 (IEEE 1815.1).  Another key topic for the panel is an overview and update on DNP3 Secure Authentication which integrates end-to-end cryptographic authentication in the Application Layer of DNP3 and will utilize the new DNP3 Key Management Protocol (DKMP) now under development.  The final speaker will describe a case study of DTE Energy using a tool that is based on the IEC 61850 Substation Configuration Language to configure their DNP3 systems and supports conversion to CIM.
